I was surfing on ChoralNet today and found this handy-dandy new iPad app for singers and musicians. It actually lets you mute the sound for all parts except yours. OR you can lower the sound for the other parts. For instance, if you're an alto who is practicing the Rutter "Requiem" you can upload it into the app and then practice your part.
If this thing really works well, it could eliminate the need for buying expensive part CDs. And, if a part CD isn't available, just use this app.
I'm fully aware of Cyberbass and other similar sites and they are awesome, but this sounds like it might be exactly what I've been looking for.
The name of the app is Sonja and the inventor and creator is Daniel Swirsky. Click on either link to get more information.
This app is not just for choral singers and promises to do a lot more than what I've written about but I'm most excited about this one thing.
I currently don't have an iPad, but I might just have to buy one!
