Don't Tune the Altos Flat! (Or Beware the Wrath of the Flatted Alto)

When I was in another choir here in Salt Lake City, a rather exclusive choir, I might add...ahem.  Here comes the story...

We were singing in the round and the director was making me REALLY nervous because he kept coming over to stand right by me and then would walk over and stand by the sopranos.  This kept up for a few measures and then he stopped us, looked at the sopranos, and said, "Sopranos, you're sharp!  Stop flatting the altos!"  I SO wanted to fist pump!

So here, for your amusement, is what can happen when you tune the altos flat.  If you don't approve of swearing, you might not want to click this link.

Ha, ha, Ha, Oh, yes Beware the Wrath of the Flatted Alto - Indeed! this made me laugh so hard.
I will have to tell my conductor that it is not a matter of my singing flat but he should incline his ear towards the sopranos and hear how sharp they are!

And some directors don't hear how sharp the Divas are until they use the piano! Never mess with an alto!
